Well, we are going to see what we can do with the names we have for state. The names we don't have, i don't think they will make a huge splash anyways and the usual suspects will probably be the teams to beat anyways....Here we go: Play-in Games: IGH #2 over Brainerd #4, 10-8 North Pine #2 over Holdingford #3, 12-6 Death Grip/Reapers over Jimmy's Bud Light, 13-10 Round One: JP/Tanel's vs. Cans R Us. Saw in an earlier post by someone on JP/Tanel's saying the northern teams didn't get the respect they so richly deserved. Well, here's your chance.....I like the Northern C state champs from a year ago in this one, 12-9. VFW Bandits vs. St. Cloud #1. Hard to pick, but I would think the Cloud league is more difficult than the Long Prairie/Grey Eagle league. I like Cloud #1 in this one, 14-8. Canteen/Hirschey's vs. Westwood/Connolly. Heard some real good things about this Canteen team. Haven't seen them play this year, but hear they can with a lot of the teams around. Westwood is much of the same. I have said on here before, I have seen them score 30, but seen a lot of 4 and 5 run efforts. I like Canteen is a close one, 18-16. Minnehaha Liquors vs. T&M Athletics. Not sure who T&M is, but know M'haha can also hit with a lot of teams around. I like M'Haha in this one, 19-9. Hilmerson RV vs. Diamond Pointe. Couple of teams I don't know much on, but did get some decent reports on Hilmerson. I like the RV boys in this one, 13-5. Bill's Well Drilling vs. IGH#2. Bill's in this one, often and early. 20-4. Michelob Golden vs. CJ's Bar. Not a ton of reports, but have to go with my 2nd favorite beverage, 14-7. MN Matt vs. Lee's Pro Shop. Lee's Pro Shop in this one, 15-8. Team Buzzkill vs. Mac, Inc. Buzzkill, again, often and early. 21-9. BBS/Kelly's Bar/Miken vs. Poorboyz. Poorboyz got a poor draw in this one. Arguably the best team in the state right now, based on their Open State championship. They didn't get the trophy, but I think we all know they should have had that opportunity. if they can win with only 7 of their guys against the State's best, this tourney could get ugly for some teams. I like BBS in a landslide, 23-4. Lucky's 13/Jazz vs. North Pine#2. Can't talk about the Jazz and not talk about Gopher Football's biggest booster, Todd Hambrecht. This guys always lays it on the line in big tourneys and he will show his senior leadership. I like the Jazz running these guys right away, 19-5. Gary's Place vs. Aitkin #1. No clue, Gary's gets the nod, 5-3. Crosslake Drug vs. East Central #2. East Central in this one , 11-8. Death Grip Reapers vs. Maplewood #1. DGR's haven't had a ton of good runs at state and I like Maplewood in this one, 14-11. Vanhouse vs. BBS/Jonny's. Great first round match-up...Probably the best one. I saw some nice things by both teams this year. I like Vanhouse in a close one so the JP Tanel guy is happy that another northern team is picked. Vanhouse in this one 17-14. Realty Executives vs. MN Building Contractors. MBC joins the CC ranks after a 2nd place finish in C South last year. I like them in this one, 15-9. 2nd Round: JP/Tanel vs. St. Cloud #1. I'm picking JP Tanel again, more northern love! 16-10. Canteen vs. M'Haha Liquors. Should be another great game and depends on who shows up with their hitting sticks. I like M'haha to pull out a close one, 17-15. Hilmerson RV vs. Bill's. Bill's keeps rolling, 18-8. Mich Golden vs. Lee's Pro Shop. Lee's keeps it going, 15-11. Buzzkill vs. BBS/Miken. Might be the game of the tournament. Very even back and forth game, but I think we all know what will put them over the edge. The combo of Forsey, Brice, and major League Savvy! I like BBS in a close one, 21-16. Jazz vs. Gary's Place. Jazz wins it, Hammer 2 big show bombs as well. 19-6. Maplewood vs. East Central. Maplewood wins it, 14-12. Vanhouse vs. MN Building Contractors. Too much of Vanhouse in this one, 15-10. Quaterfinals: JP Tanel vs. Minnehaha Liquors. This is where the northern run ends. Like the M'haha in this one, 16-9. Bill's vs. Mich Golden. Bill's again big, 18-7. BBS/Miken vs. Jazz. Hard to pick against a Gopher faithful, buy the pitching will get the Jazz in this one. BBS, 19-12. Vanhouse vs. Maplewood #1. Vanhouse over Maplewood, 15-10. Semi Finals: Minnehaha vs. Bill's Well. Should be a good one. I like Bill's though, 16-12. BBS/Miken vs. Vanhouse. Good run by Vanhouse, but it ends in this one. BBS/Miken is in this one 21-12. Undefeated: Bill's Well vs. BBS/Miken. Bills' with the major upset, 17-16. Championship Game #1: BBS/Miken over Bill's, 19-13. Game #2: BBS/Miken over Bill's, 20-10. Final Order and with the top 4 moving to B for 2009: 1) BBS/Miken 2) Bills' Well Drilling 3) Lucky's 13/Jazz 4) Vanhouse 5/6) Minnehaha Liquors and Team Buzzkill MVP: Jeff Forsberg, BBS/Kelly's Bar/Miken |
