Tournament #9.....Breaking down the McQuade's Brackets--C division
Has anything changed in North Dakota after the Hooters/Miller Lite Extravaganza in Fargo?

Deadwood Saloon vs. ETI. The Saloon has the kid that beat Larry Carter in the HR Contest. Competition isn’t real stiff in Rapid City this will be a test. ETI won the D/Rec I last year but I like the bomb hitting kid and the Saloon 13-10.

Huff Construction vs. Overtime Bar/Bud. OT came out on fire at Hooters but fizzled in the bracket with a loss Ackermans. Huff took second dumping Fisher and Jorgy’s. More of the same this weekend. Huff 19 OT 14.

AFB vs. The Keg. The Keg AKA Push Pedal Pull made an impressive run at Corky’s but has disappeared lately. They will overmatch the Air Force Base. Keg 15-8.

Tharaldson Ethanol vs. Dust Tex – TE is playing inspired ball lately. 5 missing starters at the Dudley and beats Redwood at their own game. Now 2 more starters are nursing injuries this weekend but they still have enough for Dust Tex unless DT comes out firing on all cylinders like they did last year in the McQuade. Nacho might cause a ruckus in Ethanols first 6 games. There will be a lot of fans at this one and TE still has too much for DT. Ethanol 21 Dust Tex 7.

Schiele vs. Stadium. Neither team has much mojo right now. Stadium 12-9 on a hunch the locals win.

Vic’s Bar vs. Turtle Mountain Thunder. Nice draw for both teams. The weekend will end early for both. Thunder 33 is seriously worried about seeing the #4 hitter from TE. Ouch. Take TMT 9-6.

Jorgy’s vs. Performance Asphalt. Jorgy’s made a nice run at Hooters and they are running into the hottest team in softball right now in Performance. The McQuade is a different deal though, Jorgy’s takes this 17-16 in a nailbiter.

Spectrum Designs vs. Bellerud Transport. What a difference a year makes. Petey has to be on the hot seat. Bellerud is dropping games to Rec 3 teams in league. League? We talking about league? Bellerud snuck 1 win out at Hooters but might be able to win by protesting Kelly in the 7th inning. Bellerud beat TE last year and whined they couldn’t compete. A defeatist attitude brings defeats. Spectrum 17 Bellerud 4.

Sun Opta vs. 5 O’Clock/Bud Light. Sun Opta has not been playing well, it doesn’t matter, they roll. Sun Opta 20 5 O’Clock 7.

Ackerman Surveying vs. Miken/Tanel. Normally I would tell you Miken/Tanel is going to clean the field with Ackerman but there was a slight meltdown at the Dudley. Rumors were swirling about their club but Josh will just cut the garbage and replace them with guys that have heart. Ackerman struggle in the round robin at Hooters but turned it around in the bracket. Miken 13 Ackerman 11.

Sperle MN vs. Rookies/Bud Light. Sperle got smacked around at Hooters and Rookies might have a few Sioux Falls pickup veterans in their midst. Rookies 13 Sperle 8.

Sperle ND vs. Buffalo City Grill. The other Sperle has impressed many early in the year with a good run at Corky’s. They walk here 19-3.

BBS/Imperial vs. Silverbacks. Rumor has it BBS won’t be there. Silverbacks are a USSSA D team from Colorado looking to have a good time. It’s easy to win with a clear mind and no worries. Take the Silverbacks 14-12.

Elbow Room vs. MIC.  No opinion on this one. Go MIC. MIC 9 Elbow Room 8

Workers vs. Custom T’s. Best game of the first round and should be a shootout. Jim Bob has to get this one done so he can streak the HR Contest faithful for $300 again this year. Don’t snag your nuts on the fence. Custom T’s 14 Workers 12.

Fischer vs. Sonny’s. No Moe or Robo, no winno. Fischer and their new shipment from EAS wins 29- 17.

2nd Round

Saloon vs. Huff.  Huff rolls here as the pitching condor shuts down Saloon. 20-7.

Keg vs. Ethanol.  Ethanol has way too much for the Keg even with a depleted roster. Ethanol 21 Keg 14.

Stadium vs. TMT. Stadium moves on 15-5.

Jorgy’s vs. Spectrum. Spectrum proves why they are the top seed in Bismarck. Spectrum 20 Jorgy’s 14.

Sun Opta vs. Miken/Tanel. Sun Opta has been saving something up for a run here. Sun Opta 16 Miken 12.

Sperle ND vs. Rookies. Sperle squeaks by here 17-15.

Silverbacks vs. MIC. Silverbacks getting hot 22-8.

Fischer vs. Custom T’s. Two tough games for Fischer to start but they are the elite team in this field. Fischer 25 Custom T’s 22.

3rd Round

Huff vs. Ethanol. Huff is looking for some revenge from the chip at Hooters. They get is with a 22-21 squeaker.

Stadium vs. Spectrum. Spectrum wins the Bismarck bracket and advances. Spectrum 21 Stadium 11.

Sun Opta vs. Sperle. This might be the most intense game of the night with plenty of lead changes. I’ll take Sperle to win 16-15.

Silverbacks vs. Fischer. Fischer routes the Colorado team handily 23-10.

Semifinals

Huff vs. Spectrum. Huff stays on a roll and finds winning is difficult if the field is full of Bismarck umpires. They win a close one 17-17.

Sperle vs. Fischer. Another great matchup but Fischer proves why they are the best young team in ND. Fischer 19 Sperle 11.

Finals

Huff vs. Fischer. Rematch from Hooters where Huff prevailed 17-15. Not this time. This is Fischer’s backyard and they keep Duane sober somehow, some way. Fischer 22 Huff 11.

Order of Finish

1st Fischer

2nd Tharaldson Ethanol

3rd Huff/Zoo

4th Sun Opta

5th Spectrum

5th Sperle ND
